Truck Driver Hospitalized after Accident on Highway 99 and Cedar Avenue [Sacramento, CA]

SACRAMENTO, CA (November 27, 2019) – A truck driver sustained injuries in an accident on Highway 99 on November 24.
 
According to CHP, several drivers attempted to alert the truck driver. However, the truck driver still collided with the new High Speed Rail overcrossing on Highway 99, after being unable to remember to lower his dump bed.
 
The truck driver went off of Highway 99 on Cedar Avenue exit but didn’t get that far. When he drove under the overpass for the High Speed Rail, the dump bed struck it and got stuck.
 
Responders took the driver to the hospital, with an unknown condition.
 
The crews are still working on removing the truck from the overpass safely.
 
The officers expect Cedar Avenue underneath the High Speed Rail to remain closed for at least two hours or more.
