Two Injured in South Prairie Car Crash
SOUTH PRAIRIE, WA (February 5, 2019) – A pickup truck carrying two people plunged into a snowy embankment Tuesday morning in a rural area of Pierce County.
Officials reported the accident occurred at 11:10 AM off of Lower Burnett Road, southeast of South Prairie.
Assistant Chief Russ McCallion of East Pierce Fire and Rescue said the white pickup truck veered off the roadway due to the snowy weather conditions, causing it to slide down a fifty foot slope. The truck landed on its side.
First responders and rescue crews were dispatched to the scene. One of the occupants was able to get out of the vehicle while the other had to be extricated. Crews had to use a high angled rope to bring him up the embankment.
Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical evaluation. Their medical status nor identity have been released.
No more details surrounding the accident had been disclosed at this time.
