Serious Food Truck Crash on Interstate 5 Left 2 People Injured [Bakersfield, CA]

1 Person Airlifted after Crash on Interstate 5 in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA (December 6, 2023) – On Wednesday, two people sustained injuries in a crash on Interstate 5 and Highway 99 split.

The Fort Tejon California Highway Patrol reported that the driver of a food truck in the southbound lane near the intersection of Interstate 5 and Highway 99 drove over the guardrail into the northbound lane for unexplained reasons, causing at least two injuries and slowing traffic.

CHP stated that one person from the food truck was ejected and is currently being airlifted to a hospital, while another occupant sustained minor injuries. The closure of both directions of traffic was necessary to facilitate the helicopter’s landing. 

The area around Laval Road and the Interstate 5 and Highway 99 split is experiencing delays in both traffic directions.
