SUV Overturns on 5 Freeway at Lerdo Highway Killing the Driver
BUTTONWILLOW, CA (September 2, 2019) – A driver was killed following a rollover crash early Monday morning in Buttonwillow.
The crash happened around 12:15 a.m. on southbound 5 Freeway near Lerdo Highway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe had lost control for unknown reasons, causing the car to overturn. The SUV then went into a dirt divider, where it landed on its side and ejecting the driver.
As a result, the driver sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The Kern County coroner’s office identified him as 47-year-old Troy Edward Turner of Long Beach.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor. The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Troy Turner in this very unfortunate time of their lives.
