Wrong-Way Driver Arrested Following Collision on Anderson Road Injuring Washington State Patrol Trooper Jessica Schob
Bremerton, WA (July 13, 2020)– A wrong-way driver on Anderson Road injures a Washington State Patrol trooper Jessica Schob on Friday afternoon.
On July 10, just before 5 p.m., troopers responded to multiple reports of a wrong-way driver. The report indicates a sedan traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of State Route 3.
Trooper Schob said she was trying to slow down the traffic to stop the driver near Newberry Hill Road. Schob made it in front of the sedan but the driver slammed her car head-on.
Trooper Schob also said that she had to crawl out through the window as the door would not open after getting hit. She immediately checked if the other driver was injured.
Consequently, other responders arrived at the scene. WSP District 8 Captain James Mjor said “Our trooper had to make a grave decision to put herself between the public and a dangerous driver, risking her own safety. No doubt our trooper’s actions tonight perhaps saved innocent motorists and a suspect in crisis.”
Schob was later transported to the hospital for sustaining minor injuries. She was immediately released, said the authorities. She said she is a little sore due to the incident, but overall is doing well. Trooper Schob has been in the WSP for five years.
Police Arrest
Meanwhile, the wrong-way driver is a 39-year-old woman from Quilcene. Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office took her into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence. Moreover, she did not sustain injuries from the incident.
