Trayvon Ford of Los Angeles Killed in Interstate 15 Pursuit Crash [Murrieta, CA]

Murrieta, CA (April 20, 2023) – On Sunday, Trayvon Ford, 22, of Los Angeles, sustained fatal injuries following an Interstate 15 pursuit crash.

The fatal collision unfolded at about 4:40 a.m. on the southbound freeway, near Magnolia Avenue.

CHP Officer Javier Navarro said a traffic crew noticed a Jeep Compass with no license plates. The officers signaled the driver to pull over, but Navarro said the male driver sped away.

During the chase, the Jeep driver reached speeds up to 127 mph, exiting and re-entering the freeway several times. The driver exited the southbound freeway at California Oaks Road where he failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway and the vehicle overturned.

Ford, along with another unidentified passenger were thrown from the Jeep onto the street.

Afterward, the Jeep driver and another occupant of the vehicle ran away as CHP officers scouted the location.

The authorities later arrested both without further incident.

Moreover, the medical team rushed Ford and the other person ejected to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, where Ford succumbed to his injuries less than an hour later. The other victim sustained major injuries.

The authorities said the Jeep driver showed signs of intoxication, but the results of the toxicology test were still pending Wednesday.

The driver’s custody status could not be confirmed as of yet, nor the status of the passenger who allegedly fled with him.
