Driver Injured in Spokane DUI Crash
Spokane, WA (December 5, 2024) – Travis Forcier, 33, of Spokane, was arrested in a N Nevada Street hit-and-run crash Tuesday.
The authorities responded to the rear-end collision at the intersection with E Everett Avenue.
Investigators said the driver of the vehicle that was hit had incurred an injury to his left shoulder. The driver was taken to an area hospital.
Meanwhile, the sedan driver, Travis Forcier, fled the scene on foot.
Court documents stated Forcier exhibited signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and red, glossy eyes.
Spokane Police asked him how much he had drunk that night and Forcier responded with “A beer from everywhere.” However, he later said he had only consumed one beer.
Troopers said Forcier refused to do field sobriety tests and to provide both a preliminary breath sample and an evidentiary breath sample.
According to the investigators, Forcier’s sedan was located with significant front-end damage.
Moreover, Forcier’s blood alcohol content was not immediately available, as he declined testing. Police said he later admitted to drinking several beers before the traffic collision.
Travis Forcier is charged with driving under the influence, hit-and-run, and vehicular assault.
His arraignment is later this month.
Officers are investigating the Spokane DUI crash.
Do Not Drink and Drive
Always remember to plan for a sober driver to take you home. If you’re the designated driver, it’s important to take the role seriously and don’t consume alcohol or use other drugs. Here are some more safety tips:
Never drink and drive.
Don’t let someone get behind the wheel if that person has been drinking.
If you’re hosting a gathering, ensure everyone has a sober ride home.
Call 911 if you see a drunk driver.
Always wear your seat belt. It’s your best defense against impaired drivers.
Just one drink before driving can put you and others in danger because alcohol impairs thinking, reasoning, and muscle coordination. Impaired driving poses a serious threat to road safety. It increases the risk of accidents, injuries, and fatalities. Alcohol and drugs impair judgment, reaction time, and coordination, making it difficult for drivers to operate a vehicle safely. By choosing not to drink and drive, you are stepping towards protecting yourself and others on the road.
