Traffic Stalled Due to Burlingame Train Accident on Oak Grade Crossing

BURLINGAME, CA (March 12, 2020) – On March 11, a train accident on Oak Grade Crossing snarled traffic in Burlingame.

According to a San Mateo County Transit District spokesperson, a Caltrain train hit an unmanned vehicle, thus, resulting in traffic delays for the rush hour commute. However, it was clarified that the collision did not lead to any injury.

The incident happened around 5:10 p.m., when a northbound train struck a car at the Oak Grove grade crossing, just north of the Burlingame Caltrain Station.

Reports revealed that the driver managed to exit the vehicle before the train struck it. 231 passengers were inside the train at the time.

By 6:10 p.m., the northbound lane reopened. This occurred 10 minutes after the train was released for movement.

Moreover, the Caltrain resumed its services for the southbound track 35 minutes after the collision. However, they implemented a single tracking speed of 20 mph.

Whenever you are behind the wheel, apply safe driving tips to minimize the risks of road accidents. In addition, slow down in busy areas, put distractions away, yield and stop for trains and always be leery. By doing so you can help keep yourself and others around you safe.
