BUCKEYE, AZ (March 29, 2024) – Wednesday night, a tragic wrong-way crash on State Route 85 near Milepost 147 killed one person.

The incident happened at around 10:00 p.m. on State Route 85 near Milepost 147.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a black sedan that was traveling in the wrong direction collided with a vehicle with five occupants.

Moreover, officers confirmed that the wrong-way driver died in the crash. Then, paramedics transported five people to a hospital with minor injuries.

Furthermore, the crash closed SR 85 for several hours but has long since reopened.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
