Fatal Head-On Collision on Highway 33 Near Maysville Leaves One Dead, One Injured
Maysville, MO (December 24, 2024) On Saturday afternoon, a deadly vehicle crash on Highway 33 left a 27-year-old Nashville woman dead and a 39-year-old Cameron resident with serious injuries.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the horrific crash happened on Highway 33, three-quarters of a mile south of Maysville.
Reports say that the tragic head-on collision resulted in one death and left another driver seriously injured.
Authorities say that a 2023 Hyundai Elantra heading north crossed into the southbound lane. The southbound driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado attempted to avoid the collision by moving into the northbound lane. However, the Hyundai overcorrected back into the northbound lane, causing a head-on collision.
The crash claimed the life of a 27-year-old woman from Nashville, Tennessee, who was driving the Hyundai. She was transported to Cameron Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased at 4:48 p.m. by Dr. John Barth. Her body was later transferred to Roberson Funeral Home in King City, Missouri.
The Chevrolet driver, a 39-year-old Cameron, Missouri, resident, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Mosaic Life Care for treatment. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The vehicles were totaled and removed by Scotty’s Towing. Authorities, including the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and additional Missouri State Highway Patrol officers, provided assistance at the scene.
