1 Person Dead in Bakersfield Bicycle Accident on Cecil Avenue near Driver Road
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 3, 2023) – Saturday night, a tragic vehicle crash on Cecil Avenue near Driver Road killed one person.
The incident happened at around 7:36 p.m. on Cecil Avenue, east of Driver Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a westbound 2019 Ford struck a westbound pocket bike for still unknown reasons. Then, the force of the crash ejected the 16-year-old male rider of the pocket bike into the roadway. Also, the Ford continued traveling before colliding with a wooden telephone pole and came to rest within a dirt field.
Moreover, officers confirmed that the dirt bike’s rider died in the crash. Then, paramedics transported the Ford’s driver, a 17-year-old boy, to Delano Regional Medical Center in stable condition.
At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
