1 Killed in National City Traffic Crash on Interstate 805 near 43rd Street

NATIONAL CITY, CA (April 30, 2023) – Saturday morning, a tragic vehicle accident on Interstate 805 near 43rd Street killed 1 person.

The incident happened at around 9:08 a.m. on southbound Interstate 805 near the 43rd Street off-ramp.

According to reports, a southbound work truck collided with a large commercial flatbed truck carrying a Caterpillar bulldozer tractor for still unknown reasons. The large truck fled the scene without stopping to provide aid. Then, the force of the crash pushed the work truck to roll down and embankment.

Moreover, responders pronounced a male occupant of the truck dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported another male occupant of the vehicle to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
