GARFIELD, TX (July 19, 2023) – Late Monday night, a tragic two-vehicle crash on State Highway 71 near Albert Brown Drive killed 2 people.

The incident happened at around 11:00 p.m. on State Highway 71 near Albert Brown Drive.

According to the Department of Public Safety, a westbound Chevy Tahoe failed to yield the right of way for still unknown reasons. Then, a Mack tanker truck struck the Tahoe’s right side.

Moreover, responders pronounced the Chevy driver and one of its passengers dead at the scene.

Furthermore, the crash closed the westbound lanes of State Highway 71 overnight but has long since reopened.

At this time, the circumstances involved in the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
