1 Person Dead in Maricopa Auto Accident on Interstate 10 near State Route 347

MARICOPA, AZ (August 14, 2024) – Tuesday morning, a tragic two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near State Route 347 killed one person.

The incident happened around 6:30 a.m. on Interstate 10 near State Route 347.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, an eastbound blue Ford Explorer experienced tire failure and veered into the dirt median. Then, the Explorer re-entered the eastbound lane, flipped, and collided with a Ford pickup truck.

Moreover, responders pronounced the front-seat passenger of the Explorer, a male juvenile, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported the driver of the Explorer to a hospital with moderate injuries.

Furthermore, the crash closed eastbound Interstate 10 but has long since reopened.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the DPS continued to investigate the crash.
