1 Person Dead in Bakersfield Traffic Accident on Highway 99 near Sherwood Avenue

BAKERSFIELD, CA (September 13, 2023) – Monday morning, a tragic two-vehicle crash on Highway 99 near Sherwood Avenue killed one person.

The incident happened on northbound Highway 99, just south of Sherwood Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2019 GMC rear-ended a 2014 Chevrolet that was stopped in the second traffic lane with lights turned off. Then, the force of the crash pushed both vehicles off the roadway and onto the shoulder lane.

Moreover, responders pronounced the 23-year-old female driver of the Chevrolet, dead at the scene.

Furthermore, the 43-year-old female driver of the GMC claims that she failed to notice the Chevrolet due to its lights turned off.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the authorities asked anyone with details about the crash to call the California Highway Patrol at 661-396-6600.
