Tragic Traffic Crash on Mandela Parkway Kills 23-Year-Old Oakland Woman [Oakland, CA]

Oakland, CA (December 14, 2023) On Wednesday morning, a 23-year-old Oakland woman died and 24-year-old female passenger and a 34-year-old Oakland man were hurt in a tragic traffic crash on Mandela Parkway.

According to the Oakland Police Department, the fatal 2-vehicle collision happened around 11 a.m. at the intersection of 16th Street and Mandela Parkway.

Reports say that a northbound Honda sedan was struck by a speeding eastbound Ford Fusion. Officials say that the Ford was initially involved a hit-and-run a few blocks away, plus police learned that the Ford was reported stolen earlier that day.

Officials say that the female driver of the Honda, identified as the 23-year-old Oakland woman, died due to the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene by police.

Authorities say that the female passenger on the Honda, a 24-year-old Oakland woman, and the Ford driver, a 34-year-old Oakland man, were taken to the hospital, officials did not released their conditions at this time.

Police did say that the Oakland man is expected to be arrested and booked into Alameda County jail on charges including vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence of drugs, vehicle theft and hit-and-run.

Police are investigating the fatal 2-vehicle collision.
