1 Person Dead in San Diego Auto Accident on Interstate 15 near University Avenue

SAN DIEGO, CA (January 23, 2024) – Sunday night, a tragic single-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 near University Avenue killed one person.

The incident happened at around 9:00 p.m. on Interstate 15 near University Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle lost control for still unknown reasons, veered off the roadway, struck a sign, before crashing down an embankment where it struck two trees before it came into rest.

Moreover, responders pronounced the 63-year-old female driver of the vehicle, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported the 10-year-old passenger of the vehicle to a hospital with major injuries.

Furthermore, the crash closed two right lanes of Interstate 15 southbound, but has long since reopened.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
