1 Person Dead in Grover Beach Auto Accident on Highway 227 near Price Canyon

GROVER BEACH, CA (August 21, 2024) – Monday morning, a tragic rollover crash on Highway 227 near Price Canyon killed one person.

The incident happened at around 11:52 a.m. on Highway 227, south of Price Canyon near the Cold Canyon Landfill.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle veered off the roadway for still unknown reasons, crashed into a tree and fence, and rolled over onto its side.

Responding paramedics pronounced the 76-year-old male driver of the vehicle, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported a 79-year-old female passenger of the vehicle to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities blocked the southbound lanes of the highway to give way to responders.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the CHP continued investigating the crash.
