1 Person Dead in Fresno Pedestrian Accident on Santa Ana Avenue

FRESNO, CA (May 5, 2024) – Friday night, a tragic pedestrian crash on Santa Ana Avenue killed one person.

The incident happened started around 8:15 p.m. on First Street and Gettysburg Avenue.

According to the Fresno Police Department, authorities attempted to pull over a vehicle for a traffic stop, then the vehicle fled the scene and officers started a short pursuit. Also, the suspect vehicle approached Cary Park, where it hopped a curb, entered a park, and struck two pedestrians who were behind the backstop of a baseball field on Santa Ana Avenue.

Moreover, authorities confirmed that one victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported one patient to a hospital with critical injuries.

Furthermore, officers confirmed that the suspects fled the scene on foot after the suspect vehicle crashed around the area of Fairmont Avenue and Thesta Street.
