TUCSON, AZ (August 14, 2023) – Monday morning, a tragic pedestrian crash on North Alvernon Way and East Presidio Road killed one person.

The incident happened at around 2:00 a.m. on North Alvernon Way and East Presidio Road.

According to Public Information Officer Sergeant David Fritsch, an eastbound blue 1997 Toyota Camry struck a male pedestrian crossing the roadway outside a marked crosswalk.

Moreover, responders rushed the pedestrian to Banner University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Furthermore, the Toyota driver remained at the scene to cooperate with the authorities. Also, officers confirmed that the driver was not under the influence when the incident occurred.

At this time, the circumstances involved in the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
