BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 31, 2023) – Saturday night, a tragic pedestrian crash on Niles Street near Barlow Street killed one person.

The incident happened at around 10:46 p.m. on Niles Street, west of Barlow Street.

According to the California Highway Patrol, an eastbound 2014 Nissan struck a male pedestrian who was wearing dark clothing and walking outside a marked crosswalk.

Moreover, responders rushed the pedestrian who sustained major injuries to Kern Medical where he was later pronounced dead.

Furthermore, the driver involved remained at the scene after the crash and called 911.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
