SAN DIEGO, CA (October 3, 2024) – Sunday night, a tragic pedestrian crash on Interstate 8 and State Route 125 killed one person.

The incident happened at around 9:50 p.m. on Interstate 8 and State Route 125.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Mercedes struck a male pedestrian in a wheelchair who was crossing Interstate 8 eastbound to the State Route 125 transition ramp.

Moreover, responders rushed the pedestrian to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Furthermore, authorities believe that alcohol and/or drugs were a factor to the crash.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
