Kansa City, MO (November 23, 2024) On Wednesday evening, a tragic pedestrian crash on Highway 49 claimed the life of a man in a wheelchair.

According to authorities, the fatal incident happened near the Red Bridge Road exit.

Reports say that the man was crossing U.S. 49 Highway when a southbound silver Chevrolet Cruze struck him.

Police reported that the driver had merged toward the right shoulder to yield to a fire truck with activated lights and sirens but did not see the man in his wheelchair.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have not released his identity.
