SANTA BARBARA, CA (October 31, 2023) – Saturday night, a tragic pedestrian crash on Highway 101 and Castillo Street killed one person.

The incident happened at around 10:15 p.m. on southbound Highway 101 near the Castillo Street offramp.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2015 Honda Accord struck a man who was standing in the middle of the offramp for still unknown reasons.

Moreover, responders rushed the man to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Furthermore, officers do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
