Injury Reported in Fatal Head-On Collision near Highway 155
Bakersfield, CA (January 18, 2024) On Wednesday evening, a multi-car crash on Highway 65 left 2 people dead and another person seriously hurt.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the fatal collision happened around 6:45 p.m. along Highway 65 north of Highway 155.
Reports say that a northbound vehicle crossed onto the southbound lane and collided head-on with a pickup truck, causing both vehicles to rest along the side of the road. Officials say that the pickup truck burst into flames.
First responders arrived at the scene and found the pickup driver with serious injuries after bystanders pulled the driver out of the burning vehicle. Medics airlifted the man to Kern Medical for treatment.
Officials say that 2 occupants of the other vehicle, described as a 58-year-old female and a 64-year-old male, were declared dead at the scene.
CHP is investigating the fatal collision and has not released further information at this time.
