1 Person Dead in Fresno Auto Accident on Highway 180 near George Smith Road

FRESNO, CA (February 20, 2024) – Sunday morning, a tragic head-on crash on Highway 180 near George Smith Road killed one person.

The incident happened at around 5:30 a.m. on Highway 180, west of George Smith Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, an eastbound 2015 Chevrolet Equinox veered into the westbound lanes and collided head-on with a westbound 2017 Toyota Tundra.

Moreover, officers confirmed that the 30-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet died in the crash. Then, paramedics transported the driver and a passenger of the Toyota to a local hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

Furthermore, authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
