2 People Dead in Madera County DUI Accident on Highway 99 near Highway 152

MADERA COUNTY, CA (October 29, 2023) – Friday night, a tragic DUI crash on Highway 99 near Highway 152 killed two people.

The incident happened at around 8:05 p.m. on Highway 99, north of Highway 152.

According to the California Highway Patrol, an older model Toyota Camry traveling at a high rate of speed veered onto the east shoulder of the embankment and collided with a light pole. Then, the force of the crash pushed the vehicle to rollover.

Moreover, officers confirmed that the female driver and a female passenger of the vehicle died in the incident. Also, two other occupants of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and a fifth passenger suffered major injuries in the crash.

Furthermore, officers believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
