Romelia Aguilar Dead, Khalid Yagobbi Arrested after Crash on Shoreline Drive and Aquarium Way

Long Beach, CA (October 15, 2023) – Saturday evening, 60-year-old Romelia Aguilar died in a crash on Shoreline Drive and Aquarium Way.

The crash happened just before 6:35 p.m. on October 14.

According to police, a male driver struck several other vehicles and several pedestrians in the crosswalk. 

Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene and determined Aguilar to be deceased.

LBFD first responders also transported an “unknown number” of victims to a local hospital, one of whom was in critical condition, authorities said.

The suspect remained on the scene. He has been identified as Khalid Yagobbi, a 46-year-old resident of the city of Los Angeles. He was later arrested.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
