SAN JOSE, CA (May 8, 2024) – Tuesday morning, a tragic bicycle crash on E Capitol Expressway near Senter Road killed one person.

The incident happened at around 7:23 a.m. on E. Capitol Expressway near Senter Road.

According to the San Jose Police Department, an eastbound Chevy Silverado truck that was traveling at a high rate of speed ran a red light and struck a bicyclist before colliding with a northbound Ford F-150. Then, the driver of the Chevy attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by a Good Samaritan.

Moreover, responders pronounced the bicyclist, dead at the scene.

Furthermore, officers arrested and booked the suspect into Santa Clara County Main Jail on multiple charges.
