FRESNO COUNTY, CA (July 25, 2023) – Monday afternoon, a tragic 4-vehicle crash on Elkhorn Avenue and Highway 41 killed 1 person.

The crash occurred at about 12:45 p.m. on Elkhorn Avenue and Highway 41.

Reports said that a commercial truck pulling a trailer headed south on Highway 41 where the road goes from a four-lane highway to a two-lane. Then, it crashed into stopped traffic at the intersection.

Also, preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of the commercial truck was distracted which hindered him from reacting to the traffic that was stopped on the road ahead. As a result, he hit the rear of a Toyota – which then hit a Chevrolet in front of it – which pushed it to hit a commercial Ford in front of that one.

Both vehicles were forced to the east of the roadway. Officers confirmed that the Toyota had three occupants. The driver suffered minor injuries, the female passenger died on impact and the infant in the back seat was airlifted to a local hospital.

Then, the occupants of the Chevrolet also sustained significant injuries.

Officers confirmed that the crash involved four vehicles and seven victims.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
