Tragic 2-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 5 Claims a Life [Grand Mound, WA]

Motorcyclist Killed in Collision with SUV on I-5 Near Grand Mound

Grand Mound, WA (October 27, 2024) On Friday evening, a motorcycle rider was pronounced dead in a tragic 2-vehicle crash on Interstate 5.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the fatal collision happened at about 8 p.m. on southbound I-5.

Reports say that a motorcyclist tragically lost his life Friday night after a collision with a large SUV near Grand Mound.

Officials say that the motorcyclist and a 2007 GMC Yukon driven by a 31-year-old Lakewood woman were both heading south on Interstate 5, about eight miles north of Centralia.

Authorities say that the Yukon swerved from the right lane into the middle lane near milepost 88, where it struck the motorcycle.

The impact sent the SUV into the right-lane barrier and left the motorcycle, a Suzuki GSX600, totaled in the right lane.

The 38-year-old motorcyclist from Duvall was pronounced dead at the scene, while the SUV’s driver and her passenger, a 31-year-old Tacoma woman, were unharmed.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the 2-vehicle crash on Interstate 5, and the victim’s identity will be released once the family has been notified.
