Suspected DUI Crash on I-5 Near Milton Claims Life of Indiana Man
Milton, WA (December 5, 2024) On Sunday evening, a 35-year-old man from Goshen, Indiana was killed in a tragic 2-car crash on Interstate 5.
According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the fatal traffic crash happened at about 11:40 p.m. on I-5 Near Milton.
Reports say that a suspected DUI driver caused the fatal two-car collision late Sunday night.
Authorities say that around 11:40 p.m., a Ford Mustang carrying three men collided with the rear of a Toyota Camry while traveling south on I-5. The impact caused both vehicles to spin out and stop on the road.
The Camry’s driver, a 35-year-old man from Goshen, Indiana, died at the scene. Authorities have not released his name.
The Mustang’s driver, a 26-year-old man from Auburn, was arrested and charged with DUI and vehicular homicide. He was booked into the King County Correctional Facility. A 23-year-old passenger in the Mustang sustained injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center. Additionally, this passenger faces obstruction charges.
Investigators suspect drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. All southbound lanes of I-5 were closed for about four-and-a-half hours, with traffic redirected to State Route 18.
