Banning Multi-Vehicle Pileup Clogged Traffic near Eighth Street
BANNING, CA (October 15, 2020) – On Wednesday Morning, a multi-vehicle crash near Eighth Street delayed traffic in Banning, California.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident involved up to five vehicles. Also, it happened at about 7:50 a.m. within an eastbound crossover lane near Eighth Street erected as part of a Caltrans construction project.
Furthermore, the incident blocked the single lane and the backed up traffic caused a SigAlert.
Authorities withheld information on possible injuries.
The I-10 Pavement Rehabilitation Project, also called the I-10 Tune-Up includes Caltrans deployment of a temporary crossover lane. Also, this project is located about five miles of roadway between Banning and Cabazon over the summer.
To prevent daytime lane closures associated with the project, a roughly five-mile temporary lane was added. This allows eastbound traffic drive across the opposing side of the roadway onto a separate lane from the others.
Moreover, due to the limited information available, the crash remains under active investigation.
May this be a reminder to all drivers that operating a vehicle is a responsibility that should not be taken lightly. Moreover, put all distractions away and be careful around other travelers. Furthermore, always keep a safe distance from other vehicles around you. By being a defensive driver, you can minimize the risks of car accidents.
