Tragic Traffic Crash on Highway 74 Kills Motorcycle Rider [Rancho Santa Margarita, CA]

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (December 1, 2024) On Saturday afternoon, a disastrous traffic crash on Highway 74 led to the death of a motorcyclist.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the fatal crash happened at about 12:15 p.m. on the eastbound side of the highway.

Reports say that a motorcyclist tragically lost their life in a collision with a Mercedes-Benz on Ortega (74) Highway in Rancho Santa Margarita.

Authorities say that the Orange County Coroner’s office responded to the scene at 12:53 p.m., and shortly after, at 12:54 p.m., a Sigalert was issued. The incident led to the closure of Ortega Highway in both directions near Mile Marker 13 for about two hours.

Authorities have yet to release additional details about the incident.
