85-Year-Old Woman Killed in Horrific Vehicle Collision Near Washington Street

Bakersfield, CA (March 30, 2024) On Thursday afternoon, a 62-year-old Bakersfield man was injured in a fatal traffic crash on Highway 58 that claimed the life of an 85-year-old woman.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the tragic collision happened at about 12:19 p.m. on Highway 58 near Washington Street.

Reports say that the 85-year-old female driver was in a westbound Kia Sorento that crashed into a Ford F-250 parked on the right shoulder of the highway.

Officials say that the Kia veered off the road and crashed into the stopped pickup.

Authorities pronounced the female driver dead at the scene, while the 62-year-old Bakersfield man on the parked pickup suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital.

CHP Bakersfield is investigating the tragic 2-vehicle crash and has not released additional information at this time.
