Deadly Traffic Crash on Highway 21 Claims a Woman’s Life [Potosi, MO]

Potosi, MO (November 9, 2024) On Wednesday morning, a 59-year-old Potosi woman died after a horrific traffic crash on Highway 21.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol (MSHP), the fatal crash happened around 11:20 a.m. near Flamewood Road.

Reports say that a head-on crash along Highway 21 near Potosi claimed the life of a 59-year-old woman, while 4 others sustained injuries in the multi-vehicle collision.

Authorities say that the crash involved a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by the deceased woman, that was struck head-on when a northbound 2008 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, driven by a 48-year-old Irondale man, crossed the center line. The Mercedes then collided with a third vehicle, a pickup truck, whose occupants were unharmed.

The driver of the Mercedes and a passenger in the Chevrolet suffered moderate injuries, while two passengers in the Mercedes sustained serious injuries. Authorities confirmed all occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
