Horrific Traffic Crash on FM-580 Injures 8-Year-Old Boy [Lampasas County, TX]

Lampasas County, TX (February 9, 2024) On Thursday morning, a horrific traffic crash on FM-580 involving a 1989 International dump truck loaded with dirt led to injuries.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS), the dump truck accident happened at about 7:15 a.m. on eastbound FM-580.

Reports say that the eastbound truck was driven by a Copperas Cove woman, and was driving the dump truck at an unsafe speed for the wet roadway.

Meanwhile, a school bus was stopped had its lights activated, and was loading children. When the female driver noticed this, she lost control as she applied the brakes.

Consequently, the dump truck left the road and rolled over, officials say that the truck missed the school bus.

DPS says that an 8-year-old boy on the dump truck suffered injuries and was taken to McLane Children’s Hospital for non-incapacitating injuries

Authorities are investigating the disastrous accident and have not released further information.
