Horrific Traffic Collision on Highway 140 Leaves Man Dead [Merced County, CA]

Merced County, CA (November 17, 2023) On Tuesday evening, a 32-year-old man from Atwater lost his life in a tragic traffic collision on Highway 140.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal head-on crash happened at about 7:30 p.m. in the area of Highway 140, east of Lincoln Boulevard.

Reports say that a 32-year-old man driving a 2008 Volkswagen Golf veered to the left and directly in the path of a 2016 semi-truck driven by a 69-year-old man from Hilmar.

Officials say that the Volkswagen collided head on with the big rig, the crash killed the driver of the Volkswagen, while a 23-year-old from Atwater, was a right front passenger on the Golf, sustained major injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the big rig driver complained of pain and injuries, however he declined medical treatment and stayed at the scene and cooperated with officials.

Authorities are investigating the fatal crash.
