Rider Dies after Crash with 2 Other Vehicles on 580 Freeway in Tracy
TRACY, CA (January 6, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed following a traffic collision Sunday afternoon on 580 Freeway in Tracy.
The collision happened around 1:05 p.m. along the westbound lanes of 580 Freeway at Grant Line Road off-ramp.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a motorcycle and a white SUV collided for unknown reasons. A third vehicle hit the motorcycle, sending the rider down on the roadway.
The unidentified rider suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash blocked the left and center lanes for two hours, prompting CHP to issue a severe traffic alert. All lanes were re-opened roughly around of 3:13 p.m.
It is unknown if weather was a factor in the crash. The CHP and Alameda County coroner’s office are investigating the incident.
