56-Year-Old New Hampshire Woman Fatally Struck by Pickup Truck near Pike Place Market
SEATTLE, WA (May 1, 2018) – The King County Medical Examiner’s office released the identity of the pedestrian collision victim on First Avenue. 56-year-old Tracie Lyon, a New Hampshire resident visiting Seattle, was crossing near Pike Place Market when a pickup truck struck her.
According to police reports, the collision happened on Tuesday afternoon around 2:00 PM on Pine Street and First Avenue.
Lyon was crossing east on Pine to First when a pickup truck, driven by an 86-year-old man, turned left and hit her near the crosswalk. Todd Lyon, the victim’s husband, was with her at the time of the collision. Bystanders heard him shouting her name as she was lying on the ground unconscious.
It was also determined that the couple was from New Hampshire visiting Seattle before heading to Disneyland for their honeymoon.
Lyon was rushed to the Harborview Medical Center and was listed in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). On Wednesday, May 2nd, she succumbed to severe head injuries and was pronounced dead.
Authorities confirmed that the driver responsible for the collision was possibly impaired when the crash happened. Prosecutors are being consulted for possible charges that will be filed against the driver, such as vehicular assault. No additional information is available at the time.
