CHP Investigates Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Crash on Interstate 580 in Livermore 

Livermore, CA (September 2, 2021) – Early Thursday morning, a 52-year-old Traci Joiner died after an auto-pedestrian crash on  Interstate 580.

The fatal crash in Livermore happened at around  4 a.m. on September 2, near Las Colinas Road.

The CHP said the woman was walking on the right shoulder of westbound Interstate 580 near the Las Colinas Road overcrossing when for an unknown reason she walked into the traffic lanes where she was struck by a 2013 Ford Explorer SUV.

The woman died at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver who hit her with the car, a 56-year-old Lathrop man, remained at the scene.

Currently, the CHP is trying to determine why the woman walked onto the freeway.  

Moreover, police said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the incident.
