Toyota Driver Dies in Rear-End Crash on Interstate 80 [Sacramento, CA]

Sacramento, CA (August 21, 2024) – A Toyota driver was killed and two others were injured following a rear-end crash on Interstate 80 Monday.

The five-vehicle crash happened on the eastbound freeway, west of Interstate 5.

CHP officers said a pickup truck driver was eastbound on the highway and didn’t see that traffic was stopped ahead. 

As a result, the pickup truck driver rear-ended a Toyota Tacoma, which then caused a chain reaction with three other vehicles.

Sadly, the Tacoma driver was declared deceased at the crash scene. 

Another person incurred major injuries while the pickup driver had minor injuries.

Officers confirmed three of the involved vehicles caught fire.

Investigators do not suspect DUI played a role in the collision.
