Tow Truck Operator Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash on State Route 18 [King County, WA]

King County, WA (September 13, 2024) – A tow truck operator was injured in a hit-and-run crash on State Route 18 Tuesday night.

It was about 8:20 p.m. when the collision happened on westbound freeway  ear Weyerhaeuser Way.

Investigators determined the tow truck operator was loading a vehicle when a 58-year-old driver drifted and struck the operator and fled the scene.

The tow truck driver incurred serious injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.

Troopers said the suspect driver, a man from Federal Way, exited his 2019 Hyundai Sonata and fled on foot. The authorities later arrested him for suspected DUI, hit-and-run and vehicular assault.

The hit-and-run crash on State Route 18 is still under investigation.
