Two Dead and One Injured after Possible DUI Accident near Glenn County Road 24
GLENN COUNTY, CA (April 4, 2018) – On Wednesday afternoon, two people were fatally injured in a single-car accident, just north of Glenn County Road 24.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place just a few miles south of Hamilton City. A 1998 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling northbound on State Route 45, when it swerved off the side of the road onto the dirt shoulder.
The vehicle then overcorrected back onto the highway, causing it to roll over several times. It came to a stop on its wheels facing west and blocking the highway.
Two passengers inside of the Chevy were ejected onto the road. Both were pronounced dead on the scene by officials, and were identified to be 35-year-old Tonya K Kerr of Red Bluff and 32-year-old Aaron J Mehringer of Durham.
The driver was found seatbelted inside of the car, with major injuries. He was transported to the Enloe Hospital for treatment, and was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and suspicion of DUI. His identity and condition is unknown at this time.
