Motorcyclist Dies in DUI 3-Vehicle on Highway 4 near Bailey Road
PITTSBURG, CA (February 9, 2020) – A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and killing a motorcyclist in a crash early Sunday morning.
The crash happened around 2:00 a.m. on Highway 4 near Bailey Road.
According to the CHP, a 2002 Volkswagen sedan and a 2015 Toyota sedan were initially involved in a collision. A 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle then crashed into both cars, ejecting the rider.
Paramedics pronounced the rider dead at the scene. Authorities only described him as a 29-year-old Antioch man. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Coroner’s office did not release his name pending family notification.
The driver of the Toyota, a 20-year-old Oakley man, suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the Volkswagen, identified as 59-year-old Tony Moss of Antioch, was taken to John Muir hospital in Walnut Creek for treatment of his injuries.
While at the hospital, officers placed Moss under arrest. Upon his release, police transported him to the Martinez detention facility and booked him into the county jail on suspicion of felony DUI.
The crash remains under investigation.
