San Joaquin County Supervisor Involved in Rear-End Collision near West Lathrop Road
LATHROP, CA (July 25, 2018) – A suspected DUI driver was arrested Wednesday following a three-vehicle collision near West Lathrop Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash took place shortly after 4 PM. A 2015 Chevy Tahoe, driven by San Joaquin County Supervisor Tom Patti, rear-ended a 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme on Interstate 5.
The impact pushed the Cutlass into the rear of a 2011 Toyota Prius. Fortunately, no one was reported injured in the accident.
An initial investigation suggests that Patti showed signs of intoxication. Subsequently, the 54-year-old man was booked into San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. At 11:48 PM, records confirmed that he was released from custody.
In a recent statement from Patti, he claimed that his previous actions had no connection with intoxication. It appeared that he had previously undergone spine surgery and that the incident was a reaction to some prescriptions he has been taking.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the events that led to the accident and the liabilities of the crash. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
