3-Year-Old Girl Injured in Car Accident at Hickory Avenue

 
HESPERIA, CA (May 18, 2018) – A 3-year-old girl is in stable condition after she was ejected from a vehicle after a two-vehicle crash on Sultana Street on Friday afternoon.
 
The incident occurred on May 18 at around 1:43 PM, according to deputies from the Hesperia Police Station. Emergency responders from the San Bernardino County Fire Department also arrived at the scene of the crash. It was reported that a child was thrown from a 2004 Scion during the collision and suffered major injuries.
 
First responders located the young victim. She suffered from major head injuries as well as unknown possible internal injuries, and was airlifted to the Loma Linda University Medical Center for advanced treatment and has since been reported to be in stable condition. The adult female drivers of both vehicles, a 2011 Ford Edge SUV and a 2004 Scion, sustained minor injuries that did not require immediate attention.
 
Deputies from the Hesperia Station, Traffic Division are investigating the accident to determine the exact cause of the collision. They also will examine the vehicles restraint systems to determine if the young girl was properly seated and restrained at the time of the crash.
 
Sultana St and Hickory Ave were closed in both directions after the incident while investigators processed the scene and collected evidence. Anyone with more information about the collision is urged to call Deputy Taylor Lamson or Sergeant Doug Hubbard at the Hesperia Station.
