2-Year-Old Struck by DUI Driver on Martin Luther King Drive near 11th Street
MERCED, CA (July 27, 2019) – A 2-year-old boy suffered serious injuries after he was hit by a DUI driver on Martin Luther King Drive, Saturday evening.
According to the Merced Police Department, the incident happened at the Chevron station near 11th Street. The surveillance video shows the toddler running in front of his grandmother when an oncoming white pickup truck hit him.
An air ambulance transported the toddler to Valley Children’s Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Recent updates confirmed that the boy recovered and has since returned home. Meanwhile, authorities arrested the pickup driver, identified as Raymond Scott. They booked him into the Merced County Jail for felony DUI.
Investigators will release additional information once it becomes available.
