David Wargetz Arrested after Woodlands Pedestrian Crash on Gosling Road and S Millbend Drive
THE WOODLANDS, TX (April 28, 2024) – Saturday afternoon, Investigator Toby McLaughlin suffered injuries in a startling accident on Gosling Road.
The incident happened at around 3:00 p.m. 40-year-old McLaughlin, a 40-year veteran with the Montgomery County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office, assisted with traffic control related to the Ironman North American Championship at the intersection of Gosling Rd. and S. Millbend Dr. in The Woodlands.
Meanwhile, 50-year-old David Wargetz was driving a white Honda Civic, west on S Millbend Drive.
The constable’s office reported that as the investigator attempted to stop vehicle traffic for cyclists, Wargetz ignored traffic direction and struck him with his vehicle before fleeing the scene. As a result, responders took the victim to Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital in serious but stable condition.
Wargetz’s vehicle was later discovered at an apartment complex in The Woodlands, where he was apprehended. David Wargetz faces charges of failure to stop and render aid causing serious bodily injury. He is currently held at the Montgomery County Jail with a $30,000 bond.
