2 Fatally Injured in Accident on Highway 14 Freeway in Santa Clarita
CANYON COUNTY, CA (April 1, 2018) – A single-car crash on Highway 14 took the life of two Lancaster residents, early Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2003 GMC SUV was heading north in Santa Clarita near the Via Princessa exit, shortly after midnight. It was reportedly traveling at an alarming rate of speed, when the vehicle struck a guardrail and overturned.
The driver, 37-year-old Tiesha Shepherd, and the passenger, 48-year-old Johnnie Mitchell, were ejected from the vehicle. Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene of the accident and pronounced both occupants in the vehicle dead.
The crash caused all affected lanes to be shut for some time. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the collision and the factors that contributed. No other information is available at the moment.
